Diverse Writers of Australia, or DWOA, is a community-based initiative dedicated to facilitating diversity in Australian writing.

DWOA’s mission is to help the diverse segments of our literary community – Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander writers, writers of colour, LGBTQI writers and writers with disabilities – push back against the homogeneity of Australian publications and festivals, gain recognition for their talent and bring new and neglected perspectives to the country’s literary arts.

We maintain private and public lists of writers to assist in monitoring the diversity of the Australian literary scene and to support and raise the profiles of emerging and established writers alike.

We sincerely believe that a diverse writing culture is an enriched one.
